托福,你“变”了!7月28日加试,改革前加速冲刺

众所周知,8月1日开始,托福考试就要开始执行新的考试形式,包括考试时长,题型等都会发生一些变化。近期备考7月28日托福考试的同学们就会比较焦虑,作为托福改革前的最后一次考试,它的难度会是怎样的?我们在备考上是否需要做一些调整呢?

对于托福考试的难度而言,ETS官方惯用“consistent”这个单词来形容托福考试近年来的难度变化。它们指出:托福考试在开发方法,衡量方式和考试题型以及应用的学术材料上,都是一致的,并没有发生变化。所以关于难度的变化,大家不用担心,改革前的最后一次托福考试和改革之后的第一次考试,并不会发生太大的难度差别。


但是这里我们必须要强调一下托福听力近期的难度趋势和备考建议:

因为最近参加托福考试的学员,确实越来越多的人反映,说“托福听力难度提升了”,那这个感觉是如何产生的呢?

其实,托福听力的难度一直居高不下。与2017-2018年相比, 2019年 的考试一次会有 3-4套题目,这四套题目中的难度不是完全平均的,而且总体的难度都不低,体现在三个方面:

1. 题材:比如学生场景词不足会觉得微生物题材比哺乳动物题材难;

2. 出题层次不是按照常规套路:会有一些反规律或没有明显考点提示词的题目 ,对于考点预判制造很大难度,对于分层不熟练的同学经常感觉摸不到头绪;

3. 选项出的非常 “绕”:也就是混淆度很高,没有对于题目非常熟悉,没有经过严格培训,很容易落入出题人的圈套。

所以想要托福听力立于不败之地,还是要夯实基础,跟着优秀的老师,学习方法,加强精听训练,系统掌握才能立于不败之地。

说完听力,我们再说说阅读:

我们常见的托福备考方法是:提升词汇量和长难句的分析能力,了解托福阅读各个题型的解题方法,然后通过精读练习来提升阅读能力和托福阅读题目的分析能力。

改革之后的托福阅读每篇10道题,平均做题时间18min每篇。与之前的每篇文章14道题,平均每篇做题时间20min相比,似乎我们的做题时间更多了。但是我们试想一下,如果阅读文章总体长度不变的前提下,虽然减少了题目,但是同样我们阅读文章的时间也变少了,这种情况对于我们的整体阅读速度要求其实并没有降低;另外,如果减少的题目都是词汇题的话,我们的做题压力反而会更大,因为做每道词汇题的平均时间不会超过20sec。所以即便是题目减少了,时间缩短了,我们在备考托福阅读的时候,仍然需要提升词汇的熟练度,进而提高阅读速度,并且强化文章细节的理解能力和文章主旨的归纳总结能力。所以根据上述分析,在托福阅读备考方面,目前的新政并不会产生太大影响。

But at some other universities, experts are hired to make these decisions and students are almost never involved. Which approach do you prefer and why?
